What Is Free Kick Master?

Free Kick Master is all about the art of the dead ball, that moment when the referee's whistle goes, the wall lines up, and it's just you and a shooting chance. Instead of a simple aim-and-fire, you draw the ball's path with a swipe: the shape of your swipe becomes the shape of the shot. Drag straight and the ball flies straight; drag in a curve and the ball bends through the air, wrapping around the defensive wall the way a real free kick specialist would.

Each goal you score sends you up a level, and every level makes the keeper measurably sharper. They react to your strike a fraction sooner and travel across the goal a fraction faster, so the corner that was wide open at level two is covered by level eight. The wall grows too, gaining another defender and shifting position, which means the technique that beat level one will not be enough by level five.

How to Play

  1. Set up. The ball sits ready on the edge of the box, with the wall and keeper between you and the goal.
  2. Swipe. Drag upward from anywhere on the pitch. The line you trace is previewed as you go.
  3. Add curve. Bow your swipe left or right and the ball bends that way in flight, and the more pronounced the curve, the sharper the bend.
  4. Beat the wall. Aim to clear or wrap around the wall and drop it inside a post before the keeper gets across.

The bend peaks mid-flight. A curved shot travels fairly straight at first, then swerves most as it nears the goal, so aim wider than the post and let the curve bring it back in.

Tips to Score More

  • Whip it, don't blast it. A little less power with more curve is easier to control than a flat rocket.
  • Watch the wall's position. It shifts each level, and sometimes there's a clear side to attack around.
  • Go over the top. A high, dipping swipe can clear the wall entirely and drop under the bar.
  • Change your target. The keeper improves as you climb, so don't keep aiming at the same corner.
  • Clear the dashed green line. Nothing the keeper does can reach above it, so a shot placed over that line is a goal regardless of which way they guess.
  • Read the reflex pips. The eight-pip meter in the corner shows how quick the current keeper is. When it is nearly full, stop trying to beat them sideways and start going high.

The Line the Keeper Cannot Cross

Every keeper has a ceiling. However far they stretch, there is a height above which the gloves simply do not go, and in Free Kick Master that height is drawn for you as a dashed green line across the face of the goal. It is not decoration and it is not an approximation: the same shape that draws the line is the shape the game measures your shot against, so if the ball crosses the frame above it, the dive cannot reach it no matter how perfectly the keeper guessed your side.

That single rule changes how the whole game should be played. A driven shot into the bottom corner is a guessing game, you against a keeper who is trying to read you, and you will win some and lose some. A shot lifted over the line is not a guessing game at all. It is a question of whether you can hit a target roughly the size of a car window from twenty-odd yards while a curve is still pulling the ball sideways.

The trade-off you are actually making

Height costs you margin at the top. The crossbar does not move, so the band between the keeper's ceiling and the bar is the only truly safe strip of goal, and it is narrow. Miss it low and you are back into the guessing game; miss it high and the ball sails over and costs you a life. This is why the aiming ring turns green the moment your projected path clears the reach: it is the game telling you that you have found the safe strip, before you commit to the strike.

Notice too that power shrinks the reach horizontally. A harder strike arrives sooner, which gives the keeper less time to travel, so the ellipse you are trying to avoid gets narrower as you wind up. Power and height are two different ways of solving the same problem, and the best free kicks in this game usually use a little of both rather than all of one.

Why the Keeper Gets Quicker

Difficulty here is not a hidden multiplier on some invisible dice roll. Three specific numbers change every time you score, and each of them maps onto something a real goalkeeper actually does.

The first is the read: the chance that the keeper commits to your side rather than picking a corner blind. Early on they are guessing more often than not. By the upper levels they are reading you most of the time, and the little bit of scatter left in their guess narrows too, so even when they are slightly wrong they are wrong by less.

The second is the reaction delay. A keeper does not move the instant you strike the ball; there is a beat while they pick up the flight. That beat is generous at level one and it shrinks with every goal, which means the same shot that squeezed past a stationary keeper early on now meets one who is already moving.

The third is dive speed, and it is the one you asked the game for. Each goal adds a shade or two to how fast the keeper covers ground left to right. The dive itself is eased so that half the time is half the distance, which sounds like a small technical detail but is the reason the speed increase is something you feel rather than something you read about. A slow keeper genuinely arrives late; a fast one is already in the corner when the ball gets there.

Put together, these give the game a clean difficulty curve without ever making it unfair. Nothing is random that you cannot see. The reflex pips tell you where the keeper is on that curve, the green line tells you what is still guaranteed, and the level counter tells you how far you have come.

The Physics Behind the Bend

A curved free kick is not a trick of the animation. When a ball is struck off-centre it spins, and a spinning ball moving through air drags a thin layer of that air around with it. On one side that layer moves with the oncoming air and on the other it moves against it, which leaves slightly lower pressure on one flank than the other. The ball drifts toward the low-pressure side. Physicists call it the Magnus effect; commentators call it whip.

The important consequence for a player is when the drift happens. Sideways force builds over time, so the deviation is barely visible for the first stretch of the flight and most pronounced in the last third, as the ball slows and the spin keeps working. That is exactly why the great dead-ball strikers appear to aim at the corner flag and still find the far post, and it is exactly how the flight is modelled here.

So aim wide of the post you actually want and let the curve bring the ball home. If you aim at the post itself, the bend takes the ball outside it. If you aim at the keeper and hope the curve saves you, you have given them a ball travelling straight at them for the half of the flight where the bend has not yet arrived.

Playing on Phone, Tablet or Desktop

The swipe is the native control, so a phone or tablet is the most direct way to play: put a finger on the pitch, drag the shape you want, lift to strike. Because the path is previewed as you drag, you can adjust the bow of the curve mid-swipe rather than committing blind.

On a desktop the same swipe works with a mouse drag, or you can skip the pointer entirely. Use and to dial in curve, and for power, and Space to strike; P pauses. Keyboard play is slightly slower to set up but far more repeatable, which makes it the better choice if you are deliberately practising one particular shot.
