Privacy Policy

Last updated: 14 August 2026. This policy explains what information Football Runner does and doesn't collect when you use this website, and how cookies and advertising work here. We've tried to write it in plain language rather than legalese.

The short version. We don't ask you to sign up, we don't collect your name or email unless you choose to email us, and we don't sell your data. Your best scores are stored only in your own browser.

1. Introduction

Football Runner ("we", "us", "our") operates the website at footballrunner.online (the "Site"). We respect your privacy and are committed to being transparent about how the Site works. By using the Site, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you don't agree, please stop using the Site.

2. Interpretation and Definitions

The words with an initial capital letter have meanings defined under the following conditions. These definitions have the same meaning whether they appear in the singular or the plural.

For the purposes of this Privacy Policy:

  • Company (referred to as "the Company", "We", "Us" or "Our" in this policy) refers to Football Runner.
  • Cookies are small files placed on your device by a website, containing details of your browsing history on that website among other uses.
  • Device means any device that can access the Service, such as a computer, a mobile phone or a tablet.
  • Personal Data is any information that relates to an identified or identifiable individual.
  • Service refers to the Website.
  • Usage Data refers to data collected automatically, either generated by the use of the Service or from the Service infrastructure itself (for example, the duration of a page visit).
  • Website refers to Football Runner, accessible from https://www.footballrunner.online/.
  • You means the individual accessing or using the Service.

3. Information We Collect

We keep data collection to an absolute minimum:

  • No account required. You can play every game without creating an account or providing any personal details.
  • Information you send us. If you email us, we'll have whatever you include in that message (such as your email address and its contents). We use it only to reply to you and deal with your enquiry.
  • The contact form. The form on our Contact page is handled by FormSubmit, an independent third-party service that takes your submission and forwards it to our inbox as an email. That means your name, email address and message pass through FormSubmit's systems on the way to us, and are handled under their privacy policy as well as this one. We use the form purely as a delivery route for email, not to build any kind of list. If you would rather not involve a third party at all, email us directly instead.
  • Game data on your device. Your best scores and similar game settings are saved locally in your browser's storage, on your own device. This information stays on your device and is not transmitted to us.
  • Standard technical data. Like most websites, our hosting provider may automatically log basic technical information (such as browser type and general request data) for security and reliability. Third-party services described below may also collect data as set out in their own policies.

It is worth being equally clear about what we never ask for or collect, because for a games site the list is unusually long:

  • No usernames, passwords or accounts of any kind.
  • No payment or card details. Nothing on the Site is for sale, so there is no checkout to protect.
  • No date of birth, address, phone number or real name.
  • No access to your camera, microphone, contacts, files or precise location. The games never request those permissions, so your browser will never prompt you for them.
  • No cross-device tracking of our own, and no attempt to link your visits together into a profile.

If you ever see a page on this Site asking for any of the above, it is not one of ours, and we would be grateful if you told us about it.

4. Cookies and Local Storage

A "cookie" is a small file a website can store in your browser. We use browser local storage, a related technology, to remember your best scores and preferences on your device. This is not a tracking cookie: it isn't shared with us or anyone else, and it exists purely to make the games nicer to come back to.

Separately, third parties such as advertising and analytics providers may set their own cookies when you visit, as explained in the next sections. You can control or delete cookies and local storage at any time through your browser settings.

To be specific about what the Site itself stores, the only values we write to your browser are small game records: your best score or best distance for each game, and a note of whether you have muted the sound. Nothing in that list identifies you, and there is no identifier, profile or session token attached to it. It is the digital equivalent of a high-score board scratched into the side of an arcade cabinet: meaningful on that one machine, meaningless anywhere else.

Because those values live on your device rather than on a server, they are yours to keep or destroy. Clearing your browser's site data for this domain erases them permanently, and we have no copy to restore. That is the trade-off we chose deliberately. It means we never hold your scores, and it also means we cannot recover them for you, cannot move them to a new phone, and cannot see them at all. If you play in private or incognito mode, your browser normally discards local storage when you close the window, so each visit will start fresh.

5. Advertising

The Site may be supported by third-party advertising, which may include Google AdSense. Advertising helps keep the games free to play. Where ads are shown, please note the following:

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this Site and other sites.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies (including the Google advertising cookie and the DoubleClick DART cookie) enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this and/or other sites on the internet.
  • You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
  • You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info/choices.
  • Third-party vendors and ad networks are governed by their own privacy policies. You can review how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.

We do not control the cookies or data collection used by advertising partners, and this policy does not cover their practices.

6. Analytics

We may use privacy-respecting analytics to understand, in aggregate, how many people visit the Site and which games are popular. This helps us decide what to build next. Any such analytics are used to view general trends, not to identify you personally.

7. Third-Party Links

The Site links mainly to its own pages, but it may occasionally link to external websites (for example, the opt-out links above). We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of other sites. When you follow a link away from the Site, we encourage you to read the privacy policy of any site that collects your information.

8. Children's Privacy

The Site is family-friendly and intended for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because we don't require accounts or personal details to play, no such information is requested. If you believe a child has sent us personal information (for example, by emailing us), please contact us and we will delete it.

9. Your Choices

  • Cookies and storage. You can block or delete cookies and clear local storage in your browser settings. Clearing local storage will remove your saved best scores.
  • Personalised ads. Use the opt-out links in the Advertising section to limit personalised advertising.
  • Emails. If you've emailed us and would like us to delete your message, just ask.

10. How Long We Keep Anything

Retention is simple here, mostly because there is so little to retain.

  • Game data. Kept on your device for as long as you leave it there. We never receive it, so we cannot keep it, and there is no expiry we control.
  • Emails you send us. Kept only as long as needed to deal with your enquiry and any sensible follow-up, then deleted. If you would like your message removed sooner, ask and we will remove it.
  • Server logs. Basic technical logs kept by our hosting provider for security and reliability are retained according to that provider's own schedule, which is typically a short rolling window rather than an indefinite archive.
  • Advertising and analytics data. Held by those providers under their own retention policies, not ours. The opt-out links in the Advertising section are the most direct way to limit what they collect in the first place.

11. Where Your Information Is Processed

The Site is delivered by a hosting provider that operates a global network of servers, which is what makes the games load quickly wherever you are. In practice this means the page you are reading may have been served from a data centre in a different country to your own, and that technical request data may be processed in a country other than where you live.

The same is true of any advertising or analytics providers that operate on the Site: they are international companies and process data across multiple regions. Where those companies transfer data internationally, they are responsible for doing so under the safeguards their own policies and legal frameworks require. We are not in a position to control or audit those transfers, which is one more reason we have kept our own collection down to the bare minimum.

If you email us, your message travels through your own email provider and ours, and is stored in that mailbox. Please treat email as you would a postcard rather than a sealed vault, and do not send anything genuinely sensitive.

12. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, data protection law may give you specific rights over personal information a website holds about you, including the right to know what is held, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, and to object to certain uses of it. Laws such as the GDPR in the UK and Europe and the CCPA in California are the best-known examples.

We want to be straightforward about how those rights apply here. Because playing the games requires no account, no name, no email address and no login, there is normally no personal information about you in our possession at all. There is nothing for us to export, correct or erase, because nothing was ever collected. The one exception is if you have emailed us, in which case we hold that message and whatever you chose to put in it.

How to exercise them

Contact us using the details in the final section and tell us what you would like. If you have emailed us before, we can confirm what we hold and delete it on request. For a request about advertising data, the opt-out controls linked in the Advertising section, together with your browser's own cookie settings, will usually be faster and more effective than anything we can do on your behalf, since that data sits with those providers rather than with us.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not have a customer database to sell. We also do not use your information to build profiles, send marketing emails, or make automated decisions about you.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time, for example if we add a new service. When we do, we'll revise the "Last updated" date at the top of the page. Significant changes will be reflected here, so it's worth checking back occasionally.

14. Contact Us

If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or how the Site handles data, please get in touch via our Contact page or email hello@footballrunner.online.

We would rather answer a question than have you leave the Site unsure about something, so if any part of this policy is unclear, say so and we will explain it in plainer terms, and improve the wording here for the next person who wonders the same thing.
